Two new β-carbalkoxyphosphonium ylides (Ph3P(+)-C(-)HCOOR) (where R = Prn and Bun) and their Hg(II) and Pd(II) chloride complexes have been synthesized and characterized by their analytical (metal analyses), molecular weights, molar conductances as well as by IR and PMR studies.The spectral evidences show that ylides are coordinated to the metal through the ylidic carbon and the complexes are monomeric and behave as non-electrolytes.
