The total synthesis of the lichen depsides miriquidic acid (1) and normiriquidic acid (2) is reported.The latter depside has been shown to co-occur with miriquidic acid in the lichen Lecidea leucophaea (Flk.) Nyl. by chromatographic comparisons.
