Ethylmercury hydrate, also known as thimerosal, is an organomercury compound that has been used as a preservative in vaccines and other medical products to prevent bacterial contamination. It contains ethylmercury, a form of mercury that is different from the more toxic methylmercury found in some fish. Ethylmercury hydrate breaks down in the body more quickly than methylmercury, and numerous scientific studies have shown that the levels used in vaccines do not pose a risk to human health. However, due to concerns about mercury exposure, its use has been significantly reduced or eliminated in most vaccines, especially in the United States, Europe, and other developed countries.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 107-28-8 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 1,0 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 107-28:
(5*1)+(4*0)+(3*7)+(2*2)+(1*8)=38
38 % 10 = 8
So 107-28-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

, p. 2266 - 2270 (1984)

Organomercury(II) (RHg+, R; ethyl, n-propyl, n-butyl) forms two kinds of water-soluble complexes.RHgq and RHg(q)(OH)-, with 8-quinolinol (oxine Hq).These complex-formation reactions are studied by means of spectrophotometry, and the

EXTRACTION OF ORGANOMERCURY WITH 8-QUINOLINOL INTO BENZENE.

Sugimoto,Naito,Takei

, p. 2271 - 2275 (2007/10/02)

The extraction of organomercury(II)(RHg** plus , R; ethyl, n-propyl, n-butyl, phenyl) with 8-quinolinol into benzene has been studied by means of spectrophotometry. This study confirmed that there was no co-extraction of electrically neutral species RHgOH
