In the case of reactions with electrophilic reagents of the p- and ?-donor type the reactivity of pentafluoropropene-2-sulfonyl fluoride was characterized as that of an electrophilic functionally substituted fluorinated olefin.Hydrochlorination, hydrobromination, and chlorination of pentafluoropropene-2-sulfonyl fluoride are only realized with nucleophilic catalysis by the corresponding halide ions. The reaction of pentafluoropropene-2-sulfonyl fluoride with sulfur trioxide in the presence of catalytic amounts of boron trifluoride leads to the formation of 3-fluorosulfonyloxytetrafluroropropene-2-sulfonyl fluoride.
