The ligands 2,3,4-tri-O-methyl-6-(diphenylphosphino)-α-D-glucopyranosyl-2',3',4'-tri-O-methyl-6'-(diphenylphosphino)-α-D-glucopyranoside (αα-TREDIP) and the anomer ββ-TREDIP have been prepared from dimesylate precursors. They form a range of rhodium complexes in wich the phosphines can be mutually cis or trans, depending on the other ligands present. The αα-anomer shows more propensity for trans-complexation then the ββ-anomer, and this may be explained on conformational grounds.
