The synthesis and 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of 3-hydroxy-5-methoxypyridinium N-imine (12) is described.Compound 12 was found to undergo 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction with ethyl propiolate to give ethyl 8-amino-4-methoxy-2-oxo-8-azabicyclooct-3,6-diene-6-carboxylate (13) and ethyl 4-hydroxy-6-methoxypyrazopyridine-3-carboxylate (14).
