General Description

N,N,N',N'-1,4-Phenylenediaminetetraacetic Acid (PDTA) is a complexing agent that forms highly stable complexes with most metal ions. This organic chemical compound is structurally similar to Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) with two benzene rings. It's not naturally occurring, thus, it's synthetically produced for use in various industrial applications, which include agriculture, water treatment, and cleaning products. Its high chelation ability is utilized for removing heavy metals and minerals from solutions. However, exposure to this chemical at high rates can be harmful to health and the environment, primarily due to its non-biodegradable characteristic.
