The reaction of Os3(CO)11(NCMe) with bis(diphenylphosphino)acetylene (dppa) at room temperature affords 2(dppa) (1) in good yield, while Os3(CO)10(NCMe)2 with an excess of dppa gives 3 (2) and 4 (3) in moderate
CLUSTER CHEMISTRY. SYNTHESIS AND X-RAY STRUCTURE OF Os5(μ5-η2, P-C2PPh2)(μ-PPh2)(CO)13, A COMPLEX CONTAINING A PHOSPHINOALKYNE LIGAND ATTACHED TO AN OPEN Os5 CLUSTER
Daran, Jean-Claude,Cabrera, Elvire,Bruce, Michael I.,Williams, Michael L.
, p. 239 - 246 (1987)
Reaction of C2(PPh2)2(dppa) with Os3(CO)11(NCMe) affords the yellow complex 2(μ-dppa); this on heating gives 5-η2-P-C2PPh2)(μ-PPh2)(CO)13> in 51percent yield, which is shown by an X-ray study to contain a seven electron donor C2PPh2 ligand interacting with all five Os5 atoms of an open Os5 cluster consisting of three edge fused Os3 triangles with a swallowlike arrangement. The PPh2 group bridges the non fused edge of the central triangle. The structure appears to be identical with that described for the equivalent ruthenium complex.

, p. 91 - 101 (2007/10/02)
Reaction of two equivalents of Re3(μ-H)3(CO)11(NCMe) with dppa produces the complex 2(μ-dppa) (2).When an excess of dppa is used, mono-substituted Re3(μ-H)3(CO)11(dppa) (3) and Re3(μ-H)3(μ-dppa)(CO)10 (4) were produced. When 3 is treated with Ru3(CO)12, the complex (μ-dppa) (5) is produced in high yield. When 5 is heated, the complex Re3(μ-H)3(CO)11> (6) is produced.Using the same methodology, (μ-dppa) (8) and (μ-dppa) (11) were prepared. When 8 is heated, the heteronuclear M5 cluster Os3Ru2(μ5-C2PPh2)(μ-PPh2)(CO)13 (10) is produced.Complexes 4, 6 and 10 were identified by single crystal X-ray studies.
