Photoacoustic spectroscopy study on the co-fluorescence effect of Eu3+-La3+-Hba solid complexes
Yang, Yue-Tao,Zhang, Shu-Yi
, p. 1333 - 1337 (2008/10/08)
The photoacoustic (PA) spectra of Eu3+-La3+-Hba complexes are reported (Hba: benzoic acid). It is found that the PA intensity of the ligand bears a relation to the energy transfer processes. For Eu3+-La3+-Hba coprecipitates, with increasing the concentration of La3+, the PA intensity in the region of the ligand absorption decreases firstly, then increases. It is indicated that the addition of the second rare earth ion La3+-changes the relaxation processes of the complexes. The changes of fluorescence spectra turn out to be complementary to the PA spectra. The intramolecular energy transfer and intermolecular energy transfer processes in the coprecipitates are discussed.
EFFECT OF LANTHANIDES ON THE AROMATIC SYSTEM OF BENZOIC ACID
Lewandowski, Wlodzimierz
, p. 93 - 104 (2007/10/02)
The structure of lanthanide complexes with benzoic acid was investigated by IR and UV absorption spectra. To determine the effect of metal coordination on the aromatic system of benzoic acid, IR spectra of Ln(OBz)3 (Ln is a lanthanide except promethium; BzO is benzoic acid radical) were compared with ligand and sodium benzoate spectra. Also, changes in frequency and relative intensity of the ν(C-C)ar bands in the 1600-1400 cm-1 region, were analyzed in terms of the atomic number of lanthanides. It is shown that lanthanides disturb the aromatic system of the benzoate ligand less than sodium. This effect is discussed in terms of the bond formed.
