Synthesis of the spiro-thiazolo-s-tetrazine>analogs IIa, b, c and e has been achieved in a single step by treating 1,2,4,5-tetraazaspiroundecane-3-thione(Ia), 1,2,4,5-tetraazaspirododecane-3-thione (Ib), 1,2,4,5-tetraazaspirotridecane-3-thione (Ic) and 9-methyl-1,2,4,5-tetraazaspiroundecane-3-thione (Id) respectively with α-bromopropionic acid. The reaction of Id with chloroacetic acid results in the facile synthesis of 4-methyl-6'(7'H)-oxospiro-thiazolo-s-tetrazine> (IId). 7-Arylidene derivatives (III) have been prepared by condensation of IId with ald ehydes as well as by reaction of Id with ethyl chloroacetate and aldehydes in a single step. The structures II and III have been established by IR and PMR spectral data. The antibacterial and antifungal activities of II and III have been determined.
