Two new di-triterpene quinone ethers, 5 and 6, were isolated from the roots of Rzedowskia tolantonguensis and their structure was determined from NMR data and a partial synthesis, involving the reaction of pristimerin (1) with DDQ.Netzahualcoyene (2) and alcohol 4 were formed in this reaction favouring the theorized biogenetic pathway to triterpene quinones with a rearranged netzahualcoyene skeleton.
