The synthesis, structure, and spectroscopic details of a series of β-diketiminato lead(II) alkyl complexes are described. The Hammett correlation between the 207Pb NMR chemical shifts and σpara Hammett constant was examined computationally and found to be due to the paramagnetic shielding contribution, whereas the diamagnetic and spin-orbit coupling contributions remained fairly constant across this series of compounds.
