Synthesis of propyne iminium triflates by vacuum thermolysis of 3- trifloxypropene iminium triflates: Scope and some limitations
Rahm,Maas
, p. 295 - 299 (1994)
Vacuum thermolysis of various 3-trifloxypropene iminium triflates 1 leads to propyne iminium triflates 2 by β-elimination of triflic acid. In contrast, salt 1j undergoes an intramolecular aromatic S(E) reaction.

Propyne iminium ions 2a-d have been studied by both ab initio (3-21G//3-21G for 2a) and MNDO calculations (2a-d).It is found that the amino group stabilizes the propargyl cation structure at the expense of the allenyl cation structure.Furthermore, the hig

The propyniminium triflates 6 are obtained from 3-trifloxypropeniminium triflates 5 by elimination of triflic acid.Reaction with enaminones yields the 2-alkenyl-vinamidinium salts 14 and 18, resp., which result from ring-opening of intermediate cyclobuten
