Harnessing the reactivity of Ortho-formyl-arylketones: Base-promoted regiospecific synthesis of functionalized isoquinolines
Mishra, Pawan K.,Verma, Shalini,Kumar, Manoj,Kumar, Ankit,Verma, Akhilesh K.
, p. 8278 - 8281 (2019)
An efficient and base-mediated one-pot regiospecific synthesis of structurally diversified isoquinolines and benzo[h] isoquinolines from easily accessible ortho-formyl-arylketones and aryl/(het)arylmethanamines has been described. Challenging 3-alkynyl/alkenyl isoquinolines and bis-isoquinolines were easily attained through this developed chemistry, which can be further used for various organic transformations. Operational simplicity, high atom-economy, broad substrate scope, functional group tolerance and applicability towards large scale synthesis are the advantageous features of this developed methodology.

Spectral studies on cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes of naphthaldehyde substituted aroylhydrazones
Singh, Pramod Kumar,Kumar, Deo Nandan
, p. 853 - 858 (2006)
A series of new coordination complexes of cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) with two new aroylhydrazones, 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde isonicotinoylhydrazone (H2L1) and 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde-2-thenoyl-hydrazone (H2L2) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, conductance measurements, magnetic susceptibility measurements, 1H NMR spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, electronic spectroscopy, EPR spectroscopy and thermal analysis. IR spectra suggests ligands acts as a tridentate dibasic donor coordinating through the deprotonated naphtholic oxygen atom, azomethine nitrogen atom and enolic oxygen atom. EPR and ligand field spectra suggests octahedral geometry for Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes and a square planar geometry for Cu(II) complexes.
A highly sensitive and selective fluorescent sensor for Al3+ ions based on thiophene-2-carboxylic acid hydrazide Schiff base
Tiwari, Karishma,Mishra, Monika,Singh, Vinod P.
, p. 12124 - 12132 (2013/09/02)
An efficient fluorescent receptor (E)-N-[(2-hydroxy-naphthalen-1-yl) methylene]thiophene-2-carbohydrazide (THN) for Al3+ ions was synthesized and characterized by physicochemical and spectroscopic tools along with single crystal X-ray crystallography. This is the first report showing the crystal structure of THN and its sensing property for Al3+ ions. THN selectively and sensitively detects Al3+ ions without any interference among various cations, Na+, K+, Ca 2+, Cr3+, Mg2+, Mn2+, Fe 3+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn 2+ and Hg2+ by a strong fluorescent change in ethanol-water medium (EtOH-H2O, 1:4 v/v). The THN interacts with Al3+ in a tridentate mode to form a [AlCl2(THN)(H 2O)]·H2O complex. The binding constant was determined to be 7.06 × 106 M-1 and the limit of detection (LOD) was calculated to be 1.35 × 10-9 M which is the second highest reported till date in the literature. The 1H NMR titration, ESI-MS and DFT studies have also been performed in support of the binding details of the THN-Al3+ complex. The Royal Society of Chemistry 2013.

Synthesis of New Acylhydrazones as Iron-Chelating Compounds
Edward, John T.,Gauthier, Mario,Chubb, Francis L.,Ponka, Premysl
, p. 538 - 540 (2007/10/02)
Fourteen acylhydrazides have been condensed with three aromatic o-hydroxy aldehydes (pyridoxal, salicylaldehyde, and 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde) to give 42 acylhydrazones, of which 38 are new. These compounds complex iron and have shown varying abilities to promote the movement of iron across biological membranes.Their infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance spectra support the structures assigned to them.
