Synthesis of some newer thiazolidinones

Some new 2-[2′-substituted-4′-thiazolidinon-3′-yl]-5,6- dimethyl-8,9-dihydro-10H-benzo[7]annuleno[9,8-d]thiazoles (5a-f) have been synthesized by 1,3-cyclocondensation of thioglycolic acid with 1-substituted-N-(5,6-dimethyl-8,9-dihydro-10H-benzo[7]annuleno[9, 8-althiazol-2-yl)methanimines (4a-f). The structures of all these compounds have been delineated by elemental analysis and spectral studies (IR, 1H NMR and Mass).
