Preparation of single crystals of LaAl and X-ray structure determination
Leineweber,Jacobs
, p. L10-L12 (1998)
Single crystals of the compound LaAl have been prepared by the reaction of a mixture of lanthanum and aluminum under nitrogen at 950 °C. Previously reported crystal structure data determined by X-ray powder diffraction are now confirmed by an X-ray single crystal structure analysis on LaAl: space group Cmcm, Z = 8, a = 9.455(1) angstroms, b = 7.753(1) angstroms, c = 5.791 (1) angstroms, R1/wR2 = 2.4/5.6, N(F2≥2σ(I2)) = 685, N(var.) = 16. The structure of LaAl contains zig-zag chains formed by two crystallographically independent Al atoms with alternating angles Al-Al-Al of 64° and 180°. The chains are connected via lanthanum atoms.
New materials for sorption of hydrogen

, p. 1505 - 1509 (2004)
The influence of temperature, duration of thermal treatment, and oxidation modes of the aluminum base on processes in which intermetallic compounds LiLaAl are formed by the method of electrochemical cathodic intercalation was studied. The optimal modes of
Crystal structure of the La5Al4 compound
Belyavina,Markiv,Zavodyanny
, p. 132 - 136 (2004)
The crystal structure of the La5Al4 compound, probably stabilized by some metallic admixtures, has been studied by X-ray powder diffraction. It was shown that La5Al 4 crystallizes in a new structure type (hexagonal symmetry, a = 9.1628(7) ?, c = 11.2309(7) ?).

, p. 62 - 66 (2010)
The phase relationships in the Al-Zr-La ternary system at 773 K have been investigated for the first time mainly by means of X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with energy dispersive analysis (EDX). The existenc
