LOW TEMPERATURE BEHAVIOUR OF HoBi.
Hulliger,Ott,Siegrist
, p. 263 - 268 (1984)
Low-temperature measurements indicate that HoBi undergoes a first-order transition to a pseudotetragonal antiferromagnetic structure at T//N equals 5. 72 K. The gross features of HoBi are similar to those of HoSb, and its behavior also appears to be close to tricritical. Unlike HoSb, however, which contracts in the C direction at T//N, its axial ratio c/a is greater than unity. Moreover, the magnetic-field-induced transitions in HoBi occur in stages which strongly depend on the external stress and the magnetic history.
Low temperature magnetic transitions of single crystal HoBi
Fente,Suderow,Vieira,Nemes,García-Hernández,Bud'Ko,Canfield
, p. 59 - 63 (2013)
We present resistivity, specific heat and magnetization measurements in high quality single crystals of HoBi, with a residual resistivity ratio of 126. We find, from the temperature and field dependence of the magnetization, an antiferromagnetic transition at 5.7 K, which evolves, under magnetic fields, into a series of up to five metamagnetic phases.
On the rare earth metal bismuthide oxides RE2BiO2 (RE = Nd, Tb, Dy, Ho)
Nuss, Juergen,Jansen, Martin
, p. 611 - 613 (2012/05/20)
A series of new RE2BiO2 compounds (RE = Nd, Tb, Dy, Ho) has been synthesized from elemental bismuth, REBi, and RE2O 3 in all-solid state reactions in sealed tantalum ampoules at 1770 K. The dark grey metallic compounds adopt the anti-ThCr2Si2 type of structure (I4/mmm, tI10), according to X-ray single crystal structure analysis. As a main structural feature, there are PbO analogous slabs, [REO]+, and 44 nets of Bi2- anions, alternately stacked along the c-axis. Copyright
Y-Ni-Bi and Ho-Ni-Bi Systems
Mozharivskii,Kuz'ma,Sichevich
, p. 707 - 710 (2008/10/08)
The 723-K sections of the Y-Ni-Bi and Ho-Ni-Bi phase diagrams are studied by x-ray diffraction. The compounds HoNiBi, Y5Ni2Bi, Ho5Ni2Bi, ~Y67Ni38Bi5, ~Y5NiBi2, and ~Ho5NiBi2 are identified for the first time. Crystallographic data for these ternary compounds are presented.
