Synthesis of Aliphatic 1,3-Dinitro Compounds

Reaction of primary aliphatic nitro compounds with primary or secondary α-nitroalkenes in the presence of catalytic amounts of triethylamine or potassium carbonate affords good yields of 1,3-dinitro compounds.
