This paper describes the synthesis of deuterium-labeled hydroxybupropion. Several different methods were applied to introduce deuterium, while Strecker reaction is the successful method to ensure deuterium enrichment. Mass spectrometry analysis of the product revealed over 98% of deuterium enrichment.
