In order to avoid the use of too much organic solvent and harmful catalysts, 2-aminothiophenes are readily transformed to thienopyridines by an ecofriendly synthesis in a suitable solvent system. This reaction in aqueous medium and under microwave irradiation takes lesser time and results in higher yield as compared to conventional method.
