The preparation and the working of a carbon-sulphur electrode are described.Product distribution depends on the relative easiness of cathodic dissolution compared to substrate. In the case of propenenitriles substituted on the double bond by a leaving group, electrode works principally as a polysulphides source with nucleophilic properties. However, mechanism is complicated by the introduction in a more or less extent of amido group issued from solvent on sulphur heterocycles formed during the reduction.
