A general procedure for assigning multiple stereocenters in acyclic polyols is presented.Relative and absolute stereochemistry of 1,2,3-triols, 1,2,3,4-tetrols, and 1,2,3,4,5-pentols can be assigned by circular dichroism (CD) after a simple, two-step deri
