An efficient and convenient protocol for the synthesis of 1 -(5-aryl-[1,3,4] oxadiazol-2-ylmethyl)-3-(p-chlorophenyl)-1 H-[1,8]- naphthyridin-2-ones 5 from [2-oxo-3-(p-chlorophenyl)-2/-/-[1,8] naphthyridin-1-yl] acetic acid arylidenehydrazides 4 using iodobenzene diacetate (IBD) under solvent-free microwave irradiation is described. The products are obtained in good yields and in the state of high purity. The structures of the compounds 2-5 have been established on the basis of spectral (IR, 1H NMR and MS) and analytical data.
