The mixed dinitrogen-isocyanide complexes mer-3> (I) and 2> (II) are obtained by a novel route through reactions of CNMe with the organodiazenido species 3> and 2> (III, newly synthesized), whereas mer-3> (IV) (which gives I by reaction with CNMe) is formed in the reaction of with P(OMe)3; the structure of complex I is authenticated by X-ray analysis.
