The isomerized (alkoxycarbene)iron complexes, subjected to thermolysis, were discussed. The thermal decomposition of the isomerized (butadiene)(alkoxycarbene)iron complexes was studied for thermolysis reactivities. By recrystallization from petroleum ether/CH2Cl 2 at -80°C, the single crystals of complexes were obtained. Analysis show that the isomerized products of olefin-coordinated alkoxycarbene iron complexes exhibited a remarkable range of thermolysis reactivity.

Reaction of norbornadiene(tricarbonyl)iron with aryl-lithium reagents at low temperature, followed by alkylation of the intermediate acylmetallates with Et3OBF4 in aqueous solution at 0 deg C gives novel ring-opened diallyl complexes, C7H8(CO)2FeC(OC2H5)A
