A procedure for preparation of 3,4,4′-triaminodiphenyl sulfide by reduction of 4-amino-3,4′-dinitrodiphenyl sulfide with hydrazine hydrate in butanol catalyzed by a mixture of iron(III) chloride and activated carbon was developed providing the product in no less than 80% yield with the main compound content no less than 93%.
