A simple and convenient synthesis of 2'-substituted spirooxa/thia-diazolothiazol>2-ones (VII, VIII and IX) has been achieved by cyclodehydration of 3'-substituted spiro-2,4'-diones (IV, V and VI) with conc.H2SO4.All the compounds have been tested for their fungicidal activity.
