The reaction of -functionalized carbonyl derivatives with -nitroacrylates, catalyzed by acidic alumina and in the absence of solvent, allows the one-pot synthesis of tetrasubstituted furan derivatives, in which at least two powerful functionalities are present in the 3- and 4-positions.
