Usage

General Description

Minodronate is a bisphosphonate drug that is used to treat and prevent bone disorders such as osteoporosis and Paget's disease. It works by inhibiting the activity of osteoclasts, the cells responsible for breaking down bone tissue, which helps to prevent bone loss and reduce the risk of fractures. Minodronate is taken orally and has a long half-life, allowing for less frequent dosing. It has been shown to be effective in increasing bone mineral density and reducing the risk of bone fractures in patients with osteoporosis. However, like other bisphosphonates, minodronate can have side effects such as gastrointestinal irritation, bone and muscle pain, and in rare cases, osteonecrosis of the jaw.
