N,N,N'-Tris(trimethylsilyl)amidines RCN2(SiMe3)3 1a-b react with different R'PCl2 compounds 2a-d in a molar ratio 2:3 to give the bicycles 3a-h.Compounds 3a-h contain a P(V)-P(III)-P(V)-bond.The reactions of the bicycles 3i and 3j with SO2Cl2 (1:3) yield the eight-membered rings 4a and 4b.
