13002-11-4 Usage

General Description

1,1-Di-isobutoxypropane, also known as diisobutyl ketone or DIBK, is a colorless liquid with a mild, sweet odor. It is a ketone solvent that is commonly used in industrial applications such as paint and coating formulations, adhesives, and printing inks. It is also used as a solvent in the extraction of rare earth metals and as a chemical intermediate for pharmaceuticals and other organic compounds. 1,1-Di-isobutoxypropane has low volatility and high solvency power, making it an effective solvent for a wide range of materials. While it is considered to have low acute toxicity, it can be harmful if inhaled, ingested, or comes into contact with the skin, and proper safety precautions should be taken when handling this chemical.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 13002-11-4 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,3,0,0 and 2 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 1 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 13002-11:
(7*1)+(6*3)+(5*0)+(4*0)+(3*2)+(2*1)+(1*1)=34
34 % 10 = 4
So 13002-11-4 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

PRODUCTS FORMED IN REACTIONS OF ALIPHATIC ALCOHOLS WITH CO AND H2 IN PRESENCE OF COBALT CARBONYLS.

Del'nik,Kagna,Katsnel'son,Rabinovich,Skop,Churakov

, p. 2183 - 2188 (2007/10/02)

The purpose of this work was to identify the products of conversion of aliphatic alcohols (specifically, butyl alcohols) in the course of production of cobalt carbonyls in suspensions of cobalt carbonate, and also to study the dependence of the yield of these products on the conditions of the carbonylation reactions. It was found that variation of the CO//2:H//2 ratio (from 3:1 to 1:2. 3) has no significant influence on the yield of by-products of carbonyl formation, which was 0. 7-1. 2 mass % in all experiments. Increase of temperature (to 180 degree ) and of the reaction time (to 4-6 h) leads to some increase of the by-products yield (1. 2-1. 7 mass %), mainly owing to increase of the amount of water formed, and to some extent of the amount of isobutyraldehyde. However, it must be pointed out that the by-products obtained during carbonyl formation can subsequently be converted into the required compounds during use of alcoholic solutions of cobalt carbonyls in the course of hydroformylation of olefins. These products are undoubtedly aldehydes, formates, and acetals.
