Several substituted acetoacetanilides were prepared and coupled with appropriate diazonium chlorides.These compounds on treatment with acid hydraides and subsequent cyclization afforded a number of hitherto unknown N'-salicyloyl/isonicotinoyl-3-methyl-5-(substituted anilino)pyrazoles and N'-salicyloyl/isonicotionyl-3-methyl-4-(substituted benzeneazo)-5-anilinopyrazoles.They have been characterized by elemental analysis and ir spectroscopic studies.
