Optically pure (+)-8-phenylmenthyl isocyanoacetate 1 has been synthesized in 3 steps and 90percent yield.The formamide 4 was obtained in 1 step by Pd/C-catalyzed hydrogenation of the corresponding azide in HCO2Et as solvent.
