Ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether and N,N′-diglycidyl-N,N′-dibutylethylenediamine were prepared, and their cross-linking effect on gelatin was studied, judging from the melting point and mechanical strength of model gelatin layers.

Four new macrocyclic polyethers containing hydroxyl groups in the polyether ring were obtained by the reaction of pyrocatechol and bis(2-o-hydroxyphenoxyethyl)ether with 1,6-dichloro-4-oxa-2-hexanol and 1,10-dichloro-4,7-dioxa-2,9-decanediol.Features of their extraction capacity in relation to alkali and alkaline-earth metals were investigated.
