The present disclosure provides a contact lens comprising a first colourant which is a blue-blocking colourant having an absorption maximum (λmax) in the range of from 415 nm to 455 nm and a second colourant, wherein the second colourant is a polymerizable dye having an absorption maximum (λmax) in the range of from 470 nm to 600 nm, and optionally also comprising a third colourant which is a colourant having an absorption maximum in the range of from greater than 600 nm to 800 nm. A method of making the lens is also provided.

Provided by the present invention are an anthraquinone colorant for coloring an ophthalmic lens represented by the following general formula (1): and a high molecular anthraquinone colorant obtained by forming a covalent bond between the anthraquinone colorant and a monomer for an ophthalmic lens. The monomer for an ophthalmic lens preferably has a polydimethylsiloxane structure. Further provided by the present invention is an ophthalmic lens material formed from a composition containing the colorant and a monomer for an ophthalmic lens having an unsaturated double bond, and the lens material containing a polymer comprising the monomer for an ophthalmic lens as a monomer unit.
