The sulfenylation of acetoacetic ester by arenesulfenyl chlorides gave 2-oxo-1-ethoxycarbonylpropyl aryl sulfides.Their sodium salts are iminated by N-chloro-N-sodiosulfonamides with the formation of S-(2-oxo-1-ethoxycarbonylpropyl)-S-aryl-N-arylsulfonylsulfimides.
