Starting from (-)β-ketoester 1a the preparation of (+)-elenoic acid 4a and (+)-isoelenoic acid 5a is described.Standard operations transform 5a into (+)-tetrahydroalstonine 7a, (+)-acricine 7b, and (+)-reserpinine 7c.
