Usage

General Description

2-Propenoic acid, 3-iodo-, 1-methylethyl ester, (2Z)- is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C6H7IO2. Also known by the name 3-Iodo-2-methylpropyl 2-propenoate, it is an ester derived from acrylic acid and isopropyl alcohol. It is used in organic synthesis as a reagent for the introduction of the iodo functional group into organic molecules. 2-Propenoic acid, 3-iodo-, 1-methylethyl ester, (2Z)- is also used in the production of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Additionally, it can be used in the manufacturing of flavoring agents and fragrances. However, it is important to handle this chemical with care as it is toxic if ingested or inhaled and can cause skin irritation.
