MECHANISM OF THE OXIDATION OF ALCOHOLS BY 2,2,6,6-TETRAMETHYLPIPERIDINE NITROSONIUM CATION
Semmelhack, M. F.,Schmid, Christopher R.,Cortes, David A.
, p. 1119 - 1122 (1986)
Simple Hammett studies, hydrogen isotope effects, and attempted preparation of proposed transient intermediates are used to probe the mechanism of oxidation of alcohols by 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine nitrosonium ion.
THE BIOSYNTHESIS OF THE PHENETHYLISOQUINOLINE ALKALOID, COLCHICINE, FROM CINNAMALDEHYDE AND DIHYDROCINNAMALDEHYDE
Herbert, Richard B.,Knagg, Eric
, p. 1099 - 1102 (2007/10/02)
The important phenethylisoquinoline alkaloid, colchicine (10) is shown to derive from cinnamic acid (5) via cinnamaldehyde (6) and dihydrocinnamaldehyde (7); dihydrocinnamic acid (4) may be used by a minor pathway.
