Highly nucleopnilic phosphidocobaltates Li2 (2a,b) (L = CO (a), PPh3 (b)) are obtained in a one-pot synthesis following the sequence Co2(CO)6L2 -> K -> HCo(CO)3L -> HCo(CO)2(L)PPh2H (1a,b) -> 2a,b.Reaction of compounds 2a,b with dichloroorganylphosphines RPCl2 affords the title complexes L(OC)2Co(η2-Ph2PPR) (3a,b, 4a,b, 5b, 6b) (R = 2,4,6-(tBu)3C6H2 (3), tBu (4), Cy (5), Ph (6), the stability of which depends on the overall steric bulk, affected by the metal-bound ligands and the organic substituent R.According to an X-ray structural analysis 3a crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1 with Z = 2 and has a short P-P bond together with a long Co-PR bond reflecting the particular bonding situation of the phosphinediylphosphinito ligand.
