Reaction of trichloro(mesityl)stannane with 2,4,6-tri-t-butylphenyllithium (ArLi) in a 1/2 molar ratio, by rearrangement of one aryl group leads to chloro(mesityl)-2,4,6-tri-t-butylphenyl-stannane (3).Treatment of 3 with t-butyllithium gives the sterically congested stannacyclobutene derivative 4 which is fully characterized including an X-ray structure analysis.
