Engineering metal-organic frameworks (MOF) for heterogeneous catalysts have been of extreme interest since they could bridge the gap between homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis. We have designed and synthesized gold functionalized IRMOF-3 catalysts by post-covalent modification (PM) and one-pot (OP) synthesis methods. The gold functionalized IRMOF-3 catalysts provide an efficient, economic, and novel route for the one-pot synthesis of structurally divergent propargylamines via three component coupling of alkyne, amine, and aldehyde (A3) without any additives or an inert atmosphere. The catalysts were characterized in depth to understand their structure-property relationship. It was shown that the 4.6%Au/IRMOF-3 catalyst, prepared by the PM method, contains a fraction of cationic gold (Au3+/Au0 = 0.2), which shows much higher catalytic activity than that of 3.2% or 0.6%Au/IRMOF-3 prepared by OP method, although the former exhibits much lower crystallinity than the latter two catalysts. Notably, the catalytic activity of the Au/IRMOF-3 catalysts could be significantly enhanced at a moderate reaction temperature (150°C). All the Au/IRMOF-3 catalysts can be easily recycled and used repetitively at least 5 times, especially the catalysts prepared by the OP method, which showed no drop in activity for the successive 5 uses. These features render the catalysts particularly attractive in the practice of propargylamines synthesis in an environmentally friendly manner. The Royal Society of Chemistry.

Several simple, fast and practical protocols have been developed to synthesize internal or terminal propargylamines and chalcones via A3-coupling reaction of aldehydes, amines, and alkynes catalyzed by an easily available catalyst Ag2CO3 under solvent-free condition. The reaction proceeded smoothly to deliver various products in good-to-excellent yields with good functional group tolerance. Gram-scale preparation, bioactive molecule synthesis and asymmetric substrates have been demonstrated. Furthermore, plausible mechanisms for the synthesis of different products have been proposed.

A heterogeneous Pd-Cu NWs-catalyzed expeditious and solvent-free synthesis of propargylamines via A3-coupling of aldehydes, alkynes, and amines has been proposed. A wide range of aldehydes, alkynes and amine substrates undergo A3-coupling to produce propargylamines in good to excellent yields with good functional tolerance, such as that towards alkoxy, hydroxy, C-X (X?=?F, Cl, Br) as well as amide and C=C bonds. Furthermore, the catalyst could be recovered easily and reused for at least 5?cycles without showing significant loss of catalytic activity.

Paragraph 0058-0059, (2018/07/15)
The invention relates to a new method for synthesis of a propargylamine compound. The method is characterized by: under a solvent-free condition, taking Ag2CO3 as the catalyst, using terminal alkyne, aldehyde and amine as starting materials, and carrying out efficient and rapid reaction at 60-110DEG C by "one-pot method" to synthesize a propargylamine compound.
Bifunctional Solid Catalyst for Organic Reactions in Water: Simultaneous Anchoring of Acetylacetone Ligands and Amphiphilic Ionic Liquid “Tags” by Using a Dihydropyran Linker

, p. 2529 - 2542 (2018/09/06)
The use of solid catalysts to promote organic reactions in water faces the inherent difficulty of the poor mass-transfer efficiency of organic substances in water, which is often responsible for insufficient reaction and low yields. To solve this problem, the solid surface can be manipulated to become amphiphilic. However, the introduction of surfactant-like moieties onto the surface of silica-based materials is not easy. By using an accessible dihydropyran derivative as a grafting linker, a surfactant-combined bifunctional silica-based solid catalyst that possessed an ionic liquid tail and a metal acetylacetonate moiety was prepared through a mild Lewis-acid-catalyzed ring-opening reaction with a thiol-functionalized silica. The surfactant-combined silica-supported metal acetylacetone catalysts displayed excellent catalytic activity in water for a range of reactions. The solid catalyst was also shown to be recyclable, and was reused several times without significant loss in activity.
Efficient multicomponent synthesis of propargylamines catalyzed by copper nanoparticles supported on metal-organic framework derived nanoporous carbon

, p. 91 - 95 (2016/11/11)
Cu nanoparticles were deposited on nanoporous carbon, MOF-5-C, which was fabricated by direct carbonization of MOF-5 without any additional carbon sources. The as-obtained catalyst (Cu@MOF-5-C) exhibited high catalytic activity due to the high surface area as well as hierarchical pores of MOF-5-C, and the synergetic interaction between the metal nanoparticles and support.
