Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 13869-81-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,3,8,6 and 9 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 1 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 13869-81:
(7*1)+(6*3)+(5*8)+(4*6)+(3*9)+(2*8)+(1*1)=133
133 % 10 = 3
So 13869-81-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Preparative-Scale Synthesis of Vedejs Chiral DMAP Catalysts

A scalable synthesis of chiral Vedejs-type DMAP catalysts is reported. The key step of the synthesis is amination of the enantiomerically pure 4-chloropyridine derivative using well-defined ZnCl2(amine)2 complexes. A series of Zn(II)-amine complexes have been synthesized to explore the scope of the ZnCl2-mediated amination of 4-halopyridines. Mechanistic studies support a Zn(II)-facilitated nucleophilic aromatic substitution as a plausible mechanism for the chlorine-to-amine exchange.

Chemistry and structure of diterpenes of the Kaurane series: III. Molecular H complex of isosteviol with aniline

, p. 961 - 969 (2007/10/03)

Individual molecular H complex of isosteviol with aniline (2:1) was isolated. The aniline NH2 group plays the role of proton donor and the isosteviol carboxy group, acts as proton acceptor. Isosteviol molecules bound to aniline molecules form double helices about the 43 chiral axis. In their turn, these helices are bound to each other by hydrogen bonds between isosteviol molecules of neighboring helices, thus forming a supramolecular crystal structure of the complex. The enthalpies of formation of the hydrogen bonds in the complex were estimated. In CCl4 solutions the complexes are in equilibrium with acid isosteviol dimers, their associates with aniline, as well as free isosteviol and aniline molecules.
