140-56-7 Usage
Uses
Used in Agricultural Industry:
Fenaminosulf is used as a seed dressing and soil-applied fungicide for controlling damping off and foot/root rots in various plants. It was applied to a range of plants, including vegetables, field crops, ornamentals, and turf.
Used in Biological and Pharmacological Studies:
Fenaminosulf has been utilized in biological and pharmacological studies, including the cloning and characterization of GABA transporter1, the activity of anti-RSV carbonucleosides2, and the inhibition by fungicides of urea hydrolysis and nitrification of urea nitrogen in soil3.
However, due to its acute toxicity, limited spectrum, and photo-instability, the use of fenaminosulf has decreased, and it is now listed in The Pesticide Manual among products that have been superseded. Despite its discontinued use, it remains an important example of a commercial fungicide that acts on complex I.
Air & Water Reactions

Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 140-56-7 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 1,4 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 140-56:
(5*1)+(4*4)+(3*0)+(2*5)+(1*6)=37
37 % 10 = 7
So 140-56-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
