Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 140237-84-9 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 1,4,0,2,3 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 4 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 140237-84:
(8*1)+(7*4)+(6*0)+(5*2)+(4*3)+(3*7)+(2*8)+(1*4)=99
99 % 10 = 9
So 140237-84-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Pd-catalyzed reduction of aldehydes to alcohols using formic acid as the hydrogen donor

Wang, Anwei,Yang, Zhiyong,Liu, Jidan,Gui, Qingwen,Chen, Xiang,Tan, Ze,Shi, Ji-Cheng

, p. 280 - 288 (2014)

Facile and selective reduction of aromatic aldehydes as well as aliphatic aldehydes to alcohols was achieved using formic acid as the hydrogen donor in the presence of a catalytic amount of Pd(OAc)2 and Cy3P. It was found that both hydrogen atoms in the formic acid molecule can serve as the hydride source. [Supplementary materials are available for this article. PROCESS FOR PREPARING AN ALCOHOL FROM HYDROCARBONS

-

Paragraph 0066, (2020/12/25)

The invention provides a process for preparing an alcohol by hydrogenating an ester which is obtained by alkoxycarbonylating a C2 to C20 hydrocarbon having at least one multiple bond, preferably having at least one olefinic double bond, in which the homogeneous catalyst system used is separated from the product mixture by means of membrane separation. In a development of the present invention, the ester thus formed is converted to another ester by transesterification and then hydrogenated.

Tris(pyrazolyl)borate Cobalt-Catalyzed Hydrogenation of C=O, C=C, and C=N Bonds: An Assistant Role of a Lewis Base

Lin, Yang,Zhu, De-Ping,Du, Yi-Ran,Zhang, Rui,Zhang, Suo-Jiang,Xu, Bao-Hua

supporting information, p. 2693 - 2698 (2019/04/25)

The combination of tris(pyrazolyl)borate cobalt complexes and Lewis base is developed as an efficient catalyst precursor in the homogeneous hydrogenation. A broad substrate scope including carbonyls, alkenes, enamines, and imines is reduced with 60 atm of H2 at 60 °C. Mechanistic studies support the hydrogenation operates through a frustrated Lewis pair (FLP)-like reduction process. These results highlight the development of novel non-noble metal catalytic processes, when combined with the diverse small molecule activation chemistry associated with FLPs.

MIXTURE OF DIISONONYL ESTERS OF 1,2-CYCLOHEXANEDICARBOXYLIC ACID, METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION THEREOF AND USE OF THESE MIXTURES

-

Page/Page column 25-26, (2008/06/13)

The invention relates to a mixture of diisononyl esters of 1,2-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid, characterized in that the isononyl radicals of the diisononyl esters contained in the mixture have a degree of branching of 1.2 to 2.0, to a method for producing this mixture, and to the use of mixtures of this type.

Isononyl benzoates and their use

-

Page 5, (2008/06/13)

The invention relates to isomeric nonyl benzoates, processes for their preparation, mixtures of the same with alkyl phthalate, alkyl adipate, or alkyl cyclohexanedicarboxylate, and also to the use of these mixtures.

PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION OF AN ALCOHOL

-

Page 5; 6, (2008/06/13)

A process for the production of an alcohol, by hydrogenation of an aldehyde over a copper and zinc-containing catalyst comprises the step of treating the reduced catalyst with a sulphur compound. The process reduces the hydrogenation of olefin contained in the aldehyde feed compared with a process using an untreated catalyst.

Serine carbonates

-

, (2008/06/13)

Serine carbonates of formula I are precursors for organoleptic compounds, masking agents and antimicrobial agents. Further they are alternative substrates for malodor producing enzymes. The symbols in formula I are defined in claim 1.

Compounds having protected hydroxy groups

-

, (2008/06/13)

The present invention relates to compounds with protected hydroxy groups of formula (I) These compounds are precursors for organoleptic agents, such as fragrances, and masking agents and for antimicrobial agents. When activated, the compounds of formula (I) are cleaved and form one or more organoleptic and/or antimicrobial compounds.
