Copper-Catalyzed Synthesis of Hindered Ethers from α-Bromo Carbonyl Compounds

A catalytic method for the synthesis of sterically hindered ethers and thioethers from α-bromo carbonyl compounds and the corresponding nucleophiles using an inexpensive Cu(I) catalytic system is reported.
