141-00-4 Usage

Description

Cadmium succinate is a chemical compound with the formula Cd(C4H4O4)2, which is derived from the reaction of cadmium carbonate (CdCO3) with succinic acid. It is characterized by its white powder, needle, or plate-like appearance. Cadmium succinate is known for its fungicidal properties and is commonly used as a plant fungicide.

Uses

Used in Agriculture:
Cadmium succinate is used as a plant fungicide for [application reason] controlling and preventing fungal infections in various crops. Its fungicidal properties make it an effective agent in protecting plants from diseases caused by fungi.
Used in Chemical Industry:
In the chemical industry, cadmium succinate is used as a starting material for the synthesis of other cadmium-containing compounds. Its unique chemical properties allow it to be a valuable component in the production of various chemicals and materials.
Please note that the use of cadmium and its compounds should be carefully considered due to their potential toxic effects on the environment and human health. It is essential to follow proper safety guidelines and regulations when handling and using cadmium succinate.

Safety Profile

Confirmed human carcinogen. Poison by ingestion and intraperitoneal routes. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of Cd. See also CADMIUM COMPOUNDS.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 141-00-4 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 1,4 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 0 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 141-00:
(5*1)+(4*4)+(3*1)+(2*0)+(1*0)=24
24 % 10 = 4
So 141-00-4 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

[Cd(O2C(CH2)2CO2)]: An unprecedented 3D hybrid organic-inorganic topology

Seguatni,Smiri,Petit,Paris,Jouini

, p. 1419 - 1421 (2008)

The [Cd(O2C(CH2)2CO2)] has been hydrothermally prepared and structurally characterized using single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system, S.G.: I 2/a, a=6.515(2) ?, b=4.889(3) ?, c=30.769(3) ?, β=94.34(8) ?. The structure exhibited alternating infinite chains of edge-sharing CdO6 octahedra which progress parallel to the a-axis and four corner-sharing CdO6 octahedra layers which progress in the (a,b) plane, pillared by succinate anion. The topology leads to intersecting hydrophobic channels along (1 1 0) and (1? 1 0) directions. The preparation, structural, thermal and infrared spectroscopic characterizations and 113Cd NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) are presented.
