A method for the synthesis of N-substituted -trifluoroacetylanilines by the reaction of N-substituted isatoic anhydrides with (trifluoromethyl) trimethylsilane (Ruppert-Prakash reagent) has been developed. This method provides easy access to both N-alkyl - trifluoroacetylanilines and N-aryl - trifluoroacetylanilines in high yields. Cyclisation of N-aryl - trifluoroacetylanilines in trifluoroacetic acid gives 9- trifluoromethylacridines.
