A one-pot synthesis of the new 3'-(5-amino-1,2,3,4-tetrazol-1-yl)-3,-deoxythymidines from 3,-Azido-3'-deoxythymidine (AZT) is described. The key step is the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of hydrazoic acid to intermediate carbodiimides.
