Rapid, two-pot procedure for the synthesis of dihydropyridinones; total synthesis of aza-goniothalamin
Cogswell, Thomas J.,Donald, Craig S.,Marquez, Rodolfo
, p. 135 - 139 (2020/03/27)
A fast, protecting-group-free synthesis of dihydropyridinones has been developed. Starting from commercially available aldehydes, a novel one-pot amidoallylation gave access to diene compounds in good yields. Ring-closing metathesis conditions were then employed to produce the target dihydropyridinones efficiently and in high yields.

supporting information, p. 1786 - 1790 (2018/07/03)
A one-pot direct reductive allylation protocol has been developed for the synthesis of secondary amines by using titanium hydride and an allylzinc reagent. This protocol is applicable to a broad range of substrates, including acyclic amides, benzamides, α,β-unsaturated amides, and lactams. The stereochemical outcome obtained from the reaction with crotylzinc reagent suggested that the allylation reaction proceeds through a six-membered cyclic transition state. A total synthesis of (-)-castoramine was accomplished by following this protocol for the highly stereoselective construction of contiguous stereocenters.
Compounds, Compositions, and Methods for Cancer Therapy

Paragraph 0156, (2014/02/16)
Compounds including various oligomers of piperlongumine and/or piperlongumine analogues as well as certain piperlongumine analogues that exhibit improved toxicity to cancer cells are disclosed. Also provided are compositions that comprise the compounds, methods of making compositions comprising the compounds, methods of making the compounds, and the use of compounds in methods for treating cancer.
Stereoselective syntheses of substituted 5,6-dihydro-2(1H)-pyridinones in polyphosphate media
Marson,Grabowska,Fallah,Walsgrove,Eggleston,Baures
, p. 291 - 296 (2007/10/02)
δ-Lactams have been synthesized with excellent stereocontrol of substituents by condensing 3-alkenamides with aryl aldehydes in polyphosphoric ester. The scope of the condensation of 3-alkenamides with aryl aldehydes in several phosphate media is examined, and a rationale is proposed regarding γ-lactam versus δ-lactam formation.
Stereocontrolled Syntheses of Substituted Unsaturated δ-Lactams from 3-Alkenamides
Marson, Charles M.,Grabowska, Urszula,Walsgrove, Timothy
, p. 5045 - 5047 (2007/10/02)
δ-Lactams have been synthesized with excellent stereocontrol of substituents by condensing 3-alkenamides with aryl aldehydes in polyphosphoric ester.
